According to a German study published in the European Heart Journal, air pollution was responsible for almost 9 million premature deaths worldwide in 2015, including 67,000 in France alone. Indoor air is 5 to 8 times more polluted than outdoor air.
Given that we spend 70-90% of our time indoors, it is vital to build healthy buildings and preserve air quality for their occupants.

This is the context in which Octopus Lab was born.

The Octopus Lab project is the result of a national scientific research project funded by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME).

The aim of this nationwide project was to measure air pollution in low-energy buildings and identify the main phenomena responsible for this pollution.

At the end of the project, INCA Indoor^© was created and is now valued in Octopus Lab’s software solutions among all the additional developments that have been carried out since 2017.

Octopus Lab now offers a complete ecosystem of solutions for indoor air quality, energy performance and decarbonisation of buildings.

This ecosystem is based on our expertise in numerical simulation of building physics and chemistry. Since the first two pieces of software were developed in 2015, 10 software have been registered with the French Agency for the Protection of Industrial Property by Octopus Lab. We have thus extended our range of solutions and added artificial intelligence to the simulations and predictive control algorithms for ventilation equipment.
